Hello,
I've got mixed up with articles this time. As far as I know, we can either use or drop the article in sentences like:
E.g. I'm (an) American.
With the article, American is a noun, without one, it is an adjective (like in: The pen is red).
What about astrological signs? I thought that the article was obligatory with them.
E.g. I'm a Leo (like in: I'm a doctor).
However, I think I've heard people drop articles in such cases more than once (I'm Leo. / I'm Gemini. / I'm Pisces). If with Pisces I can account the zero article for the plural form of the noun, I can't get the reason for dropping the indefinite article with all other signs. Have I misheard it, or do we not need articles at all with star signs? Is it a rule or just a tradition then?
Thanks a million for clearing it all up for me!
