    take note of; notes

Please remember this as you read on and, if you wish, take note of aspects of the lesson that you might question; then compare these notes with the comments following the lesson description.

Does take note of mean take notes of?
    I need native speakers' help.

Where is that text from, sitifan?
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

When you take note of something you make sure you keep it in mind. You make sure you remember it. When you take notes you write things down.

Can I say "I take notes of something" if I write it down?

    I don't think so. Example:

Tarheel gave a lecture, and I took notes.

P.S. Somebody might disagree with me, and I'm OK with that. Sometimes I disagree with myself.

    Re: take note of; notes

That piece of text is not well written.
To take note of something means to pay attention to it. It does not mean to write down notes about it!

Therefore, "these notes" is somewhat confusing in the original sentence. I'm not surprised that bhaisahab asked for the source of the text.

True, it is careless writing, and if English is not your first language you could easily be confused.

sitifan, I'm fairly sure you've been asked before to always cite the source and author of your quotations.
