    permit and to be v3

    Hi,

    Are these sentences correct ?


    -It will permit them to live in a better welfare.

    -He permits the dog to clean itself.

    -She permitted the luggage to be carried by the officer.

    No, that doesn't make sense. Try: It will permit them to live a better life.

    That's grammatical but somewhat unnatural. I can't imagine anyone forbidding their dog from cleaning (licking?) itself!

    Again, it's grammatical but unnatural. Try: She permitted the officer to carry the luggage.

    I'm not sure how they would manage to do it.
