    the after appoint/elect etc

    Can we use 'the' to name the official title after appoint, elect and similar verbs? For example, can we use 'the' in the following sentence:

    He may be appointed (the?) Technical Director in June.
    If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)
