    question

    Hi.
this is my first visit and my first question. I'm translating a novel and here's a word I can't find the meaning of it:
    "o’erweening arrogance"

    Hope you can help me.
    Thank you.

    Re: question

Welcome to the forums, azra1995. What is the title of the novel you are translating? The word you are looking for is "overweening". http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dict...ning?a=british
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

    Re: question

azra, we hope we can help you further with your translation. In future posts please name the source and author of your quoted text and give them more relevant titles.

A better title for this thread would have been
    o'erweening arrogance.
