Combining sentences with participle

I have problem in combining sentences with participle. Means what we have to add(helping verb) or not add. Help me in clearing this confusion.

1) Lawyer Shashi Bhushan consulted every witness. He examined every document. At last he found out the real fact.
= Consulting every witness, lawyer shashi bhushan examined every document and at last found out real fact.
2) The two brother's were joint heir to their father's property. They desired to divide it. They auctioned it.
= :?: don't know clearly.

Can we add something (here, and) in joining the sentences with participle and can we remove something (except= pronouns) also.
If you all can give me some more examples to explain this topic then it will be great.

No. After consulting every witness and examining every document, at least Sashi Bhushan found out the facts.

He didn't use the witnesses to examine the documents.

I think 'consulting' above is a gerund instead of a participle while 'having consulted' is a perfect participle in 'Having consulted every witness'.
