What does this place mean? Janet's apartment or Taiwan?

    Dear Mom,

Great news to share with you. Last Friday, I finally moved into the apartment that I bought. It has three bedrooms, one big kitchen and a cozy living room. When you and Dad fly here, you are always welcome to stay with me.

After moving around the world and visiting different countries for ten years, I've come to Taiwan and found this place to be my perfect home for the rest of my life. I love everything about here - the food, the people, and even the night markets. I'm 100% Taiwanese inside though I have an American look.

Wish you were here with me at the moment to share my joy. Hug Dad for me and you two take care!

    Miss you,
    Janet

Obviously it's referring to Taiwan, since the apartment isn't going to have night markets inside it!

It's unlikely to have the people in it either.

"I love everything about here - the food, the people, and even the night markets."
'About here' could mean 'around here' (around the apartment), and not 'regarding the apartment'.
Still, it's more likely to mean 'Taiwan' if read from a native English point of view.

From a non-native English point of view, I think 'this place' refers to 'Taiwan' because they are used in the same sentence.
    I am not a teacher.

Re: What does this place mean? Janet's apartment or Taiwan?

I'd find 'Taiwan' and 'it' (not 'this place') to go together. I don't think being in the same sentence necessarily means anything.
"This is my apartment. I came to Taiwan and found this place. Do you like it?" In the middle sentence here, the fact that 'Taiwan' and 'this place' are in the same sentence tends to suggest they don't refer to the same thing.

The discussion of moving all about the world and trying different countries makes it clear to me that "this place" is Taiwan.
