    Passive/Active voice

    Hello,

While discussing Passive voice, I started wondering what would be the most correct way of saying:
    ?
"Jim Hendrix was thought to be a genius." or " Jim Hendrix thought to be a genius"? Are both sentances correct (grammaticaly speaking)?

    Re: Passive/Active voice

The first one is grammatically correct. The second one is not.
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

    Re: Passive/Active voice

Passive sentences need part of BE (or, occasionally, GET). Your sentence contained no finite verb.
