Are these sentences OK?

I told John that I did not review the December 2015 operation report as I assumed Robert who had prepared the report would have reviewed it before he left for his holiday.

There's only one sentence. It's missing a couple of commas to set off a parenthetical remark.

Even with the commas, it could be improved by dividing it into two sentences.

Actually, you need three commas -- after "report", after Robert", and after "report".

Is it correct to replace 'did' with 'would'?

With "did", it means that you simply didn't review the report. With "would" it means you refused to read it.
