Hello, there! My daughter is going to study in USA as an exchange student. As her parents, we are asked to write a letter to her host family. Will someone who is kind enough to help us check the following letter of recommendation. We are chinese, so we want to find some native speakers to check and make some corrections for us. Appreciate your help so much if you can do proofreading for us.

Dear Host Family:
Thank you for hosting our daughter!
In the upcoming year, [personal details removed by moderator] will have the honor to be a member of your family. Thank you for your acceptance. We surely believe she will adapt herself to a strange environment with your kind help and have a good time there because of your selfless care.
Our daughter is an independent and sensible child. She has been a boarding student since her junior school year. As a result, her life self-care ability is becoming good. She has many good friends in school and participates in many activities.
As for her hobbies, she likes the chess, ice skating, riding a bicycle, calligraphy, painting as well as carving rubber-stamps. What’s more, she enjoys listening to music , watching movies and organizing parties. Besides, she is interested in charitable donations. She also prefers to read a book in a library with her friends for the weekend homework as well as help the librarian with books. In a word, she is a happy, confident, warm-hearted girl who is ready to help others.
[personal details removed by moderator] is our only daughter. We love her so much. She treats us as her friends and often chats with us about her teachers and friends as well as her gains and difficulties in learning when she goes home at weekends. During summer and winter vacations, she will bring gifts to visit her grandparents. She loves them very much and always helps them do household chores, such as cleaning the yard; she has eight cousins, and they are all good friends. In the vacation they will go out for shopping, outing and have a dinner together.
Our daughter is going to be a grade 12 student. She has prepared for studying abroad since she was in the tenth grade. So she studies very hard at ordinary times and she is good at her subjects, especially in mathematics. Therefore, she wants to choose Finance or Accounting as her major in a university in the future. Now she is going to study in an American high school as an exchange student and hopes one day she can take the SAT and be successful in applying to a university in the United States. Of course, it all depends on her own efforts; we believe she will be able to achieve her goals.
Our daughter is coming to your loving home, and she will be very excited. However, due to the differences between the cultures of two countries, maybe she will bring you some unexpected inconvenience while staying with you. We hope that you can help and educate her to improve her ability of living and learning in the United States and let her really get into the society of the United States. For the coming year in the United States, you will be the most important person to her and her life there and you are her parents forever in the United States.
As parents of the [personal details removed by moderator], We sincerely thank you for anything you will do for my daughter. This experience will certainly make her life more colorful and better! We sincerely hope that your family will have an opportunity to come to China and visit our home, so you can appreciate Chinese culture and feel our hospitality.
Thank you once again for anything. Wish you a good and happy life!

Yours sincerely,
[Personal details removed by moderator] parents

2016 or 2017? Do you know the month?

When and where?

When?
Thank you for your questions first. My daughter is going to study as an exchange student in an American senior high school in Boston in March,2016. We are asked to write a letter to my daughter's host family that we haven't known which family it will be by now. We guess this is kind of a letter of presenting my child for American host families to choose their favourite ones.

You're most welcome. I wish you all the best, and I especially wish your daughter [personal detail removed by moderator] a happy and successful year in the US.
In future, you don't actually need to write a separate post to thank someone on the forum. You can just click the "Thank" or "Like" button instead. :)

Rodgers White, please note that I have edited your original post to remove your daughter's full name. We don't advise users to publish personal information on the site because it is open to anyone to read. You quite rightly replaced your own names at the end with "ABC XYZ".
