    It's a funny story

Instead of saying "there are some quite funny bits in your story," you could say: "At times your essay is written in an entertaining way." You could also use an example from the essay.

Thank you, Tarheel. Unfortunately, you didn't reply to my second question. Could you or someone else help me find a solution for it?

    My post covered everything.

If you have two questions, there are three things you can do. Those are:

    1. Use two question marks.
    2. Have one question per paragraph.
    3. Number them.

If you are actually an English Teacher, cloverleaf, you should be able to use quote marks consistently, start sentences with capitals, etc. And you should know how to make yourself understood (speaking about your first post).

By the way, "funny" and "entertaining" aren't the same. So, the answer to your first question is 'No'.

It's true that "funny" and "entertaining" aren't necessarily the same thing, but they can be.

The implicit question was, "Can I use 'entertaining' instead of 'funny'?". I agree that the answer to that question could be either 'yes' or 'no', as it could be with "Can I use 'entertaining' instead of 'tragic'?". Naturally, it depends on the meaning behind the question.
