    My mother is studying the ads in the newspapers. / As(or Which) is known to the world

    1. My mother is studying the ads in the newspapers.
    -Is this sentence correct? Is "to study the ads in..." a correct collocation?

    2. As is known to the world, Mark Twain is a famous American.
    -Can the as be replaced with which?
    →Which is known to the world, Mark Twain is a famous American.
