    for nothing

I do not quite understand the real meaning of the following sentence:
"The Central Hospital is not at the top of international cancer research for nothing.",
what is the meaning of "for nothing" here?

Thank you for your help and time.

    Yu

'The Central Hospital is not at the top of international cancer research for nothing.'

    'not for nothing
for a very good reason'── quoted from http://www.oxfordlearnersdictionarie...g#nothing__105

    Re: for nothing

It means that there is very good reason for the hospital to be at the top.
