Hello

What does this mean? Is it gram. correct? I have heard it so many times. But if I asked my teacher about this - she wasn' t sure whether it was possible to use it in normal speech. It s eems to me that Tom Cruise uses this phrase in every movie he plays in.

Thank you

The phrase is grammatical but it needs an ending.

 It usually comes before an admission of some sort. It is as if the speaker was by-passing a conversation like this:
A. It wasn‘t my fault.
B. Well, I think you were both at fault.
A.. Rubbish, it was all their fault.
B. Come on now, be honest. Don‘t you think you were being a bit unreasonable?
A. Mmm. Maybe you have a point. If I‘m being honest, we were both partly to blame.
They miss out the first 4+ lines, and go straight to the last sentence. ;-)
