give him a sense of his unregenerate wickedness

I'd like to ask what the meaning of the sentence in italic is, particularly the part about "give him a sense of his unregenerate wickedness".
Shocked by Huck Finnís barefaced lies, Miss Watson prayed the good Lord would give him a sense of his unregenerate wickedness.
    Thanks.

Re: give him a sense of his unregenerate wickedness

Miss Watson asked God to make Huck understand that he (Huck) was evil and that Huck was not correcting his own actions.
