    Exclamation The second street!!!

    Hello everybody
Would you please tell me what the right preposition is in the following sentence?
They are playing (in) the second street. Or (on)the second street.

    Thanks in advance,

    Re: The second street!!!

I'd say 'playing in the second street'.

Well thanks.I guess if instead of playing we use (live)the sentence would read as follow:
They are living on the second street.
    Is that right?

    Re: The second street!!!

    Try,

    They live on 2nd Street.
They live on the 2nd Street.

Note, 'live' is factual in that context.

    Re: The second street!!!

I was taking it as an ordinal number, not a name.

    Re: The second street!!!

    Hello Humble

In British English, you would say:

    1. Blair lives in Downing Street.
    2. Blair lives in the second street on the right.

But as Casiopea points out, in American English you would say:

    3. Blair lives on 2nd Street.

    All the best,

    MrP
