Mandy is happy to share a computer with her family.

    Mandy: 15, Leeds
I think computers are 100% important in our lives. Weíve got one at home, but everyone in my family uses it. If I had enough money, Iíd buy a laptop of my own. I use the computer for all kinds of things Ė homework, projects, chat, emailing people, playing games, everything! If we didnít have one, I donít know what I would do! I suppose Iíd write letters or phone my friends more, and Iíd have to read books! But you can learn so much more on the net!

Mark the sentence T (true) or F (false).
Mandy is happy to share a computer with her family. ( )
(ENLISH IN MIND 2, Cambridge University Press)

The answer key is T. But I donít think thereís enough information to show that. What do you think?

    THANKS.

There is, however, enough to say that False wouldn't work as an answer. I think you're right that the statement is more positive than the text- she does say but everyone uses it - but she does seem pleased to have access even to a shared computer.

    I don't think it's a good test question.

I would have marked it False. She would be happier with her own computer.

I don't think that necessarily makes her unhappy sharing a computer, but I see your point. As I said, it's not a good question.

They could have made a better question.
