    global warming effects

    Hello everybody,
this is my first post, so thank you first of all for all the things I've already seen in this forum.

I'd like clarification on the following:
"...predictions on global warming effects are inaccurate."
    and
"It is only a media pushed issue that ..."
I have a problem with the underlined constructions. They sound wrong to me and I would write "effects on global warming" and "issue pushed by the media".
But are the original constructions actually wrong and if they are, what's the grammatical reason for it? Or are they ok and it's just about style? Which one woud then be preferable in a scientific essay format? Again, I would choose my construction, but lack the rules to explain "why".

Thank you in advance for your time.
    All the best

    Re: global warming effects

    Welcome to the forum, dr.kleiner.

I have changed your thread title.

    Extract from the Posting Guidelines:

'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'

The first sentence is just fine: 'global warming effects' means exactly the same as 'the effects of global warming'.

In the second example I would hyphenate 'media-pushed issue'. It then means the same as your alternative suggestion.

Please tell us where you found the text you quoted. Both statements are highly contentious.

I would choose your versions in that context- the versions in the quote sound rather like jargon to me.

    Re: global warming effects

Sorry for the incorrect title and thank you for changing it.

Thank you both for your feedback.
Where would I be able to look that up, i.e. what is the grammatical topic here? Is that a question of "adjective before or after noun"?

    Re: global warming effects

"Effects" is the noun. "Global warming" is being used as an adjective, to modify "effects."

    Re: global warming effects

Thanks for the answer. One of my students wrote that and I don't think I will consider it just "contentious" but - given the rest that was written - plain uninformed.
