I think in Chinese like you, but I don't think C and D work there.

I think 'this' is the subject of 'may cause', so it cannot be omitted.

5.Why can't choose A? Now that = as long as?

'Now that' means 'because' according to www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/now_2
