Hi. I am looking for a grammatical term for words that sound unpleasant, awkward, or hard to pronounce.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, Linda.:-D

I don't there is such a term. It's not clear what you mean by 'awkward'.

The opposite of your word would be euphonic. I guess you could write "uneuphonic".

Cacaphony is a word to describe unpleasant sounds. By extension, one could coin the word "cacaphonic." However, just because it's unpleasant to hear doesn't make it awkward to pronounce.

Other possibilities include discordant and dissonant.

One of my professors of English once used the phrase "phonetically abrasive word" but I think it's a figurative expression rather than a grammatical term.
