    check and czech

Does the word "czech" in "the Chezch Republic" sound like "check"? So it's like "check republic".
Please, correct all my mistakes. I should know English perfectly and if you show me my mistakes I will achieve my dream a little bit faster. A lot of thanks.

Yes. You misspelled "Czech" in the quoted part of your message.

But you know what sound you're talking about, and I do. In fact most English speakers do.) I'm not sure we can assume that all readers do though - especially not in this forum.

If you're not already sick of my ranting, see this.

    check [ʧek]

ch - these two letters give us sound [ʧ]: children, charm, chance etc.

    Czech [ʧek]

    that's a foreign word

    Hi tantrum,
There are many native English speakers on this forum. Questions of pronunciation or the naturalness of a term might not be your forte. Have you read the forum rules yet?

The question is about the sound, though. And ch doesn't always give us that pronunciation- chemist, psychiatry, etc, and, even better, that old friend chthonic.
