    transforms lhs to rhs

lhs -> rhs represents a rule that transforms lhs to rhs.

    lhs: left hand side
    rhs: right hand side

I understand what is meant here. rhs expression will be assigned to lhs.
For example, with the rule x->2 the value 2 will be assigned to variable x.
However, I am confused with the word "transform" here.
Do you say that the rule will transform x to 2 (as the definition above) in this case?

    Re: transforms lhs to rhs

"Transforms" is a little odd. I would say it "assigns" 2 to x.
