    Question Stupidest / Most Stupid

    Hi,

I would like to know if it is acceptable to use the word "stupidest" in a sentence. Eg. "That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard." Or "He is the stupidest person I know."

Is the term "most stupid" interchangeable in both these cases?

    Thank you.

    Re: Stupidest / Most Stupid

It's probably acceptable but I would use "most stupid".

I disagree with the esteemed bhaisahab.

The examples you provide seem good to me.

    Re: Stupidest / Most Stupid

That's the stupidest idea I've ever heard.

    Yep. That works.

    Re: Stupidest / Most Stupid

I concur, 'stupidest' is widely used, at least in AmE.

It's one of those relatively few two-syllable adjectives which can take either -er/-est or more/most.

I agree that it works. I don't like it.
