    take advantage of

    Are the following sentences acceptable? Please correct the errors. Thanks!

    1. I think I was taken advantage of by them, and when they reached what they wanted, they just don't need me anymore.
    2. You should not kick down the ladder when you have succeeded.
    The hounds are killed for food once all the hares are bagged.
    4. Trusted aides are eliminated when they have outlived theirusefulness.

    For sentence one say:

    When they got what they wanted they didn't need me any more.

    The others are grammatically OK.
