    Question Practically Absent

What is the meaning of "associated with the latter would be practically absent" in the medical article below? Thanks in advance.

In non-exacerbation chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with mild lung function impairment, single bronchodilator therapy might be as effective as combined inhaled corticosteroid/bronchodilator therapy, whereas the risk of pneumonia associated with the latter would be practically absent.

    Re: Practically Absent

... the risk of pneumonia that one normally associates with combined inhaled corticosteroid/bronchodilator therapy would be almost non-existent.

    Re: Practically Absent

Or more simply: the risk of pneumonia would be almost non-existent. Such risk is normally associated with combined inhaled corticosteroid/bronchodilator therapy.
