    Degestable

    Hello,

Does the word degestable sound natural in the sentence below?

"Alien vs. Predator is degestable but the sequel is a piece of crap."

(by degestable, I mean the movie is tolerable, acceptable; unlike the sequel, it has a certain quality about it)

    Thank you very much.

    Re: Degestable

The word does not exist in English. Did you mean 'digestable'?

(Later) Thanks to GoesStation's post 5 (below), I have learnt that this is an -ible rather than an -able word.

(Personal note) I really hate it when I have to admit I was wrong.

    Re: Degestable

I find 'tolerable' far more natural than 'digestable'.

    Re: Degestable

It sounds natural with two spelling corrections. Digestible is a good choice of words to convey the idea that the film (or is that a video game?) won't cause a metaphorical stomach ache, without commenting on its other qualities.

That certainly seems to be the spelling. I'll consign my 'digestable' to the dustbin.

    Re: Degestable

I think the problem is that the word (digestible) is not pronounced the way it is written (like 'deductible')

    What about passable or acceptable?

    Re: Degestable

To me, they're all pronounced the same - with a schwa. Hence the occasional error.
