    I seem to remember that people participating in Velvet Revolution demonstrations held up their keyrings and rattled them. The sound of thousands of keys striking one another was the aural backdrop to the dramatic events.

    I believe this was intended as a message to the Communists that it was time for them to leave their offices and lock the doors behind them.
