    its rival is available

May I ask a question about the following sentence?

"The Nook GlowLight is a decent eReader if you're looking for one with a backlight. It's lighter than Amazon's Kindle Paperwhite but its rival is available at the same price with more features."

In the sentence above, what is "its rival" referring to? "The Nook GlowLight" or "Kindle Paperwhite"? Why?

    thanks...

    Re: its rival is available

It's referring to the Kindle product.
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

    Re: its rival is available

Thanks. Do I understand this correctly?

So "its" is referring to "Kindle Paperwhite".

While "its rival" is referring to "Nook GlowLight".

    Thanks..

No, "its rival" refers to the Kindle product.
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

    Re: its rival is available

Why? Because 'it' refers to the Nook Glowlight, all through the passage. Therefore its rival is the Kindle. "Its rival" is used (awkwardly) to avoid writing, "It's lighter than Amazon's Kindle Paperwhite but Amazon's Kindle Paperwhite is available at the same price with more features."
