Hello!

I have a problem with understanding the difference between Participle 1 (Simple, Passive) and Participle 2 (as an adverbial modifier)!

Both of them mean passive voice. So what's the difference?

1) Being left alone, they didnít know what to do. OR Left alone, they didnít know what to do. (I understand the difference with "having been left alone").
2) Written in pencil, the article was difficult to read. OR Being written in pencil, the article was difficult to read.
3) Being built with great skill and care, the mansion has been been used for centuries. OR Built with great skill and care, the mansion has been been used for centuries.
Could you help me?
If these examples are not ok, please, give yours...

--- Are there any situations/cases when you can't omit "being"? (except for e.g. "Beig ill, he went to bed ")

Thank you in advance!
