    amend the laws

Please help me correct the following sentence. Thanks!

If you know how to exploit loopholes in the law to get away with your crime nowadays, you will amend the laws to make your illegal profit become lawful when you come to power in the future.

    Re: amend the laws

The background of this sentence which is translated from a Chinese sentence is a story about trust, honesty, and integrity as follows.

A young girl, a card debtor, was up to her neck in debts during the four years of her college life. After graduating from college, she made a killing on taking advantage of credit card’s octuple bonus feedback, internet auction, and infomercial’s concessionary gift certificate. She turned her debt into gain, earning back a profit which amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars from the issuing bank. Her misconduct was widely supported by people with card debt problems, and she was even given the title of “the goddess of credit card arbitrageur”. On the other hand, some print medias also made negative comments on her boldness of her business methods. Theses coverage indicated that many of her crafty measures indeed breached the real transaction basis of normal merchandise. Notwithstanding the fact that her tricky practice didn’t not amount to criminal deception, it was a controversial behavior which had attracted social censure. Her behavior doesn’t conform to the requirements of honesty, trust, and uprightness. Now, she has become a public figure; even more, she is planning to run for elected representative. We are worried that if she is elected into congress, she will have the power to modify or enact new laws with the intention to profit herself.

    Re: amend the laws

The piece itself says that what she did does not amount to criminal deception, so to say "to get away with your crime" and "illegal profit" (post #1) is incorrect.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
