Post IELTS Essay Practice for Exams!!

    Hello everyone :)
I'm submitting another essay for your valuable feedback/comments. Once again your contribution is much appreciated! :)

Title: Some people think that planting trees in open spaces in cities and towns are more important than building houses. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In our modern and rapidly urbanizing world today, there is an ongoing debate as to whether the free land available should be used for planting trees or for housing. While certain individuals feel that planting trees take a greater preference rather than the construction of houses, I am in accordance with the opposite view that housing is equally important for the general population.

Firstly, cities and towns are receiving a huge influx of people on a daily basis due to the lifestyle perks which urban life has to offer such as better quality of living, higher standards of education and the vast choice of amenities available to people. To cater for this expanding population, it is necessary to keep up with such demands hence, more houses need to be built. In doing so, this yields a number of advantages such as a rise in economies of many firms, drops in crime rates related to lack of housing and increased revenue for estate agents who thrive upon customers aspiring to buy properties in cities or towns.

Another fundamental point to consider is that providing shelter is one of the basic necessities required for people to survive therefore, this should be given a greater priority compared to other issues. With more people in homes, this will reduce the number of homeless people out on streets, which could also contribute to crime. From an aesthetic point of view, people living houses would effectively decrease the chances for slums or shanty towns to develop, which would give a better image for that particular city or town.

To conclude, there are many valid points which support the argument to avail free land for housing as well as for planting trees. This is because both ideas are equally important and have their advantages which will greatly benefit the public in future.

Where did you get the essay title from? It contains an error. It should say "Some people think that planting trees in towns and cities is more important ...". "Is" refers to "planting trees".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    - The part highlighted in blue is off topic.
    - Your conclusion is seriously flawed. You mentioned nothing in your essay about the benefits or drawbacks of planting trees! Modify your conclusion or your body paragraphs.
