Are these sentences correct:
1) They sent him to Italy to not be in danger.
2) They sent him to Italy not to be in danger.
Meaning: They sent him to Italy so that he would not be in danger.
3) They did not send him to England, to learn Italian.
Meaning: In order that he would learn Italian, they did not send him to England.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
