    good sides

A lot of learners of English in Poland when writing a for/against essay use the phrase "the good/bad sides of (e.g. technology)". This is a literal translation of a Polish phrase, hence such common usage among the speakers of Polish. I always wonder about this usage because I hardly ever hear/see it used by native speakers. In texts written by native speakers it seems to me that I more often see "pros/cons", "benefits/drawbacks", "positive/negative aspects". Or is it just my impression and the phrase is commonly used and perfectly natural? Does it fit the register of semi-formal writing such as a for/against essay?

    Re: good sides

I wouldn't use the phrase- your alternatives work better for me, though (typo alert) it is benefits.

Thank you for your answer and for correcting me. That is how typing on a tablet ends

Well, I always tried to avoid writing "the good sides" because it somehow sounded wrong to me (it felt like a calque); however, since I keep seeing it in more and more coursebooks (still, only those prepared specifically for Polish speakers), I figured it might be just my bias.
