Smile my memory is in color

Hello. Would you please tell me what "My memory is in color~" means in this context?
It was in 1982 in Turkey. One night on TV, two guys who opposed the government jumped on the soccer field during a game and held up a sign, "Reject the Constitution"
and then suddenly the game was replaced by a historic vase on TV.
Does it mean "I remember the vase in color, but actually the vase and the lettering were black-and-white."?
    Thank you.

That is how I would interpret it.
