Could you check the sentence for punctuation.

    Hello,

It would be great if you could help me with the punctuation of "Generally, This is not true, but, Personally, I would say, "they do". There are so many commas that I am confused whether they are correct or not.

Thank you for your time and help.

Re: Could you check the sentence for punctuation.

We don't put a capital letter on the first word after a comma unless that word is a proper noun or the word "I". We do, however, capitalise the first letter of a complete sentence enclosed in quotation marks. Try again. (Please don't hit "Edit Post" and do it that way as that will make this response nonsensical. Write a new post following my advice.)
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Thank you, emsr2d2.
Generally, this is not true, but, personally, I would say, "They do".

Do you think this one is better?
Again, I really appreciate your help.

That's much better. Thank you for carefully following my advice!

Remove the comma after "true" and I would say it's fine.

Re: Could you check the sentence for punctuation.

I would (reluctantly) write Generally this is not true, but personally, I would say "They do". I favor shorter sentences, so my preference would be Generally this is not true. Personally, I would say "They do". When I catch myself writing a sentence with two clauses separated by but, I take a second look. Usually I replace the conjunction with a period and start a new sentence.
    I am not a teacher.
