Editor Loses Insertion Point (Google Chrome for Windows)

The text editor positions the insertion point incorrectly after I type bold, italic or underlined letters and then switch to normal text. This is especially frustrating when I hit the Backspace key because it starts deleting text beginning immediately before the point where I clicked the B, I or U button.

I use Google Chrome with a number of extensions. Is this a known problem? If so, is there a fix?

[Edit] I wonder whether some bit of the editor code is set for right-to-left rather than left-to-right character order. The insertion point is positioned as if it's at the end of a right-to-left sequence.

If I have some text and then go back to put a word in italics, if I click in the text box, the cursor returns to the end point of the text. Is that the same as with you?

(I use Google Chrome for Linux, without about half a dozen extensions.)

    I'd better document this properly.

    1) I'm typing some plain text.
    2) I'm going to click theitalics button, then press Backspace

The lack of a space between "the" and "italics" indicates the problem: when I pressed Backspace, the editor moved the insertion point to the now-missing space and erased it.

The same problem occurs with the Bold and Underline buttons.

I have told the webmaster about this. Here's what I got when I tried to do the same:

    2) I'm going to click the italics button, then press Backspac

The cursor returned to the end position, so when I hit backspace it deleted the last letter as I had left no space.

Thanks for testing this. I suspected it was not a widespread problem as lots of members use italics and bold freely. If their editors behaved like mine, they'd soon abandon the practice.

Please ask the webmaster to pm me if they want a list of my Chrome extensions or other information.

Re: Editor Loses Insertion Point (Google Chrome for Windows)

Mine does the same (if I've read the problem correctly). If I'm in "Go Advanced" and I write something in bold or in italics but then I hit backspace later on in the sentence while typing in normal (non-bold, non-italic) text, the cursor goes back and deletes the last letter of the last word I wrote in bold or italics (whichever was more recent) instead of simply going back one space. It's done it for as long as I've been using the forum. I've just learnt to live with it.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Re: Editor Loses Insertion Point (Google Chrome for Windows)

It happens to me in both the regular and the advanced editor. I've been adjusting to it but it keeps biting me. When I realized the webmaster might not know about the problem, I thought I'd bring it up here.

I'm not sure that the webmaster can do much about the editor. I'm pretty sure that text direction is not the issue, though.

I agree. I was just experimenting a couple of minutes ago and ruled that out.

Maybe the software supplier has an update for the editor code. I hope so!

The forum software does get updated regularly. I'm sorry it's being irritating.
