I want to ask about the third conditional I found a sentence and I couldn't answer it clearly it was:
If you had put the water in the freezer,it(turn) in to ice .
I want to know ..
And the main question is when the if sentence is the third conditional does it matter if it about a scientific fact ?
If you had put the water in the freezer, it would have turned into ice.
I can't relate the use of the third conditional to a scientific fact. I'd suggest you use the so-called "zero conditional" when you refer to scientific facts and general truths:
If/When you put water in the freezer, it turns into ice.
