A good name is seldom regained

    Hi,

The following is the translation of an Urdu proverb.

    Lost reputation is seldom regained.

Is there an English equivalent? I Googled it and found "A good name is seldom regained" but I am not sure about it.

It seems clear enough to me. I can't see why it wouldn't work in English too.
