What does intense mean in' intense relationships'?

Does it mean warm or tense?

I looked up it in dictionary before, but in Chinese there's no counterpart, so it's hard for me to understand.

Do you mean that you have looked it up in an English>Chinese dictionary? If that is what you mean and you did not find the word, you need to look it up in a standard English dictionary, in which the definition is given in English.
