    Conditional sentence

I want to design a question for a short passage of reading. The passage goes like:

    Dear Mark,
It has been six months since I got to Paris. I......(irrelevant)...... Halloween is coming. My friends......(irrelevant)

    The question is:
When did the writer get to Paris if Halloween is next week?
    (A) In January. (B) In April. (C) In September. (D) In December.

    Is that question okay?
I thought of using a sentence like "When might the writer have gotten to Paris if Halloween were next week?
but it is too difficult for the students.
