    Parts of Speech

Hi, I'm doing a linguistics course at the moment where we are looking at analysing parts of speech, would love some guidance as I'm a little stuck.

The sentence is: Thomas says that yellow tastes like mustard, but is as soft as a baby chick's feathers. The context is a blind boy describing his understanding of colours through smell, taste and touch.

Thomas (Singular proper noun) says (irregular verb 3rd person singular) that (subordinate conjunction) Yellow (singular common noun ) tastes (plural common noun relating to flavour) like (preposition) mustard (singular common noun)

Can anyone confirm if I'm on the right track here?

    This looks like homework.
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

Welcome to the forum, c3144606. We like to help when we can, but we don't help with homework assignments. Your teacher wants to see what you can do, not what we can do.

However, I can say that you are on the right track.
