as it slowly circled our boat/as it slowly was circling our boat.

Are the sentences below correct and natural? The first one I found in online dictionary and the second one I created by myself. In my opinion the first sentence is wrong.

    1. We could see the fin of a shark as it slowly circled our boat.

    2. We could see the fin of a shark as it was slowly circling our boat.

I find the first much more natural.

Note that you wrote the second sentence "yourself", not "by yourself".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Do you mean that I should have written "and the second one I created myself", not " and the second one I created by myself"?

Yes, that is exactly what I mean.

I created it myself = I wrote it. Someone else didn't write it.
I created it by myself = I wrote it alone. I was alone when I wrote it. There was no one with me when I wrote it.
