    About 'tell'

    Hi,

To convey the meaning of 'You can't tell such things about me', can I say

'You can't tell me like that'?

    Thanks.

    Re: About 'tell'

Neither sentence is natural English. You need 'You can't say such things about me" or "You can't talk about me like that".

    Re: About 'tell'

"You can't tell such things about me" could also mean "You can't assume/guess/intuit such things about me". This doesn't necessarily include talking about the person.

    A: You're a Trump supporter!
    B: How can you tell?
