Hallo!

Can you tell me if the following phrase is correct:

I'm keeping my handy almost every second, so if you think that I neglect you, most probably it is the case.
The tense - is present continuous used correctly here?

The whole sentence is incomprehensible. What is a "handy"?

A handy is a mobile phone - isn't it?

I've never heard a mobile (phone) called that. In the USA it's usually called a 'cell (phone)'.

Even knowing what a 'handy' is, I can't understand the sentence.

Present continuous doesn't work there. Try "I have my handy/cell phone/mobile with me almost all the time, so if you think (that) I'm neglecting you, most probably it is the case/you're probably right.

I've never heard that term for a mobile phone either.

I have my mobile with me all the time so if you think I'm neglecting/ignoring you, I probably am!

I assume that the speaker has been accused of ignoring calls or texts, or that the hearer is hoping that the reason they are being ignored is because the speaker doesn't/didn't have their mobile with them. It sounds like the hearer is about to be very disappointed.

My daughter told me that last night. I asked her (a teen, you know - they are "up" on all the latest slang) if she had ever heard a phone called a "handy" and she said it was the German term. I was going to share that today but see Piscean beat me to it.

I once knew a British guy who used the term "handy." But that was back in the early 90s. It may have been an aberration, or usage that didn't last very long.

It's grammatical but wordy. I would say "I keep my handy with me. . . ."

Handy? It looks like you just taught us some English!
