    unless .... did not

    Hi!
    Is the following passage correct?
However, this basic level and its importance as an acquired set of skills would soon lose its appeal unless the interest of associating these skills with the operation of their objects did not encourage the students to extend their objective learning further into subjective interaction.

It is from a text about using mobile devices (Ipad, mobile phone, tablet, and ...) in education. I think the verb "did not" should be "did", considering the word "unless" which precedes it.

I think the text you're reading teaches more about how not to write than about teaching.

The passage is very poorly written. I see what you're saying but your correction hardly helps.

    Re: unless .... did not

I did not actually venture to correct the paragraph. Some texts cannot be salvaged.

However, I agree that the passage did not encourage would be less illogical if it said encouraged.

    Re: unless .... did not

To be clear - I wasn't addressing Goes Station when I said "your correction hardly helps." I was referring to the original post.

I absolutely agree with Goes Station that this sentence cannot be salvaged. In fact, it's quite remarkable that a single sentence can have so many things wrong with it.
