    Preposition inside vs within

    Which sentences are more common:
We'll be back inside the hour.
Our aim is to get the whole job finished inside a week.
A full report is expected inside three months
    .
    Or
We'll be back within the hour.
Our aim is to get the whole job finished within a week.
A full report is expected within three months.

    Re: Preposition inside vs within

I'd use ;within', but I think 'inside' is possible.

They're both possible and understandable but in BrE within is more common.

I'm a casual fan of The Final Score on BBC1 and I've heard the phrase inside + time a couple of times.

    Re: Preposition inside vs within

OK, inside+time is no good, but what about inside+place?. For instance:
There are many footpaths inside the national park.
Very little is known of events inside this mysterious country.

    Re: Preposition inside vs within

It's more natural to use 'in' in those examples. 'Inside' is used more for enclosed spaces.

How did you come to that conclusion? Three people here have told you it's possible. There are several examples here.
