What is the category movies called?

If the movies we watch in the cinema only have 1 episode, what do you call the type of that movie? For your information, I am not asking about genre, such as action, horror, etc.. but the type or classification? USA box office?

such as, Game of Thrones has multiple episode, we label it as "TV-Series".

It's just called a movie. (film in BrE)

We often refer to series of films, such as the James Bond or Star Wars series, as franchises. See the third definition here.

Would it be appropriate call it as "Single title movies?"

Suppose I want to describe the film which only have 1 episode how should i put the sentence together? "I usually watch the movie which doesnt have series?" that obviously sounds odd and weird.

It's a sad state of affairs that Hollywood now needs a word to describe movies not intended to have sequels.

If there must be an industry word, 'single-title movie/picture' sounds appropriate.

In line with the silliness of the concept, could I suggest 'monomovie' or 'unifilm' or 'Oboe film' (one beginning;one end)?

Just a few days ago I recorded a bunch of short films from the pre-television era. These precursors of TV series were popular among young people. They were called serials. I'm sure Hollywood had a term to distinguish freestanding, non-serialized films from serials in those days, but it fell out of use.

Come to think of it, there's probably a current term in the industry for films that aren't candidates for sequels. I don't know what it is though.

Re: What is the category movies called?

Any movie that does well enough at the box office is ripe for a sequel. There are not guarantees that a movie is a stand-alone movie any longer. Even when the main character dies.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Exactly. If there is success, there will be attempts to make more. Whether it's logical or not. Prequels, sequels and "re-boots" mean that Hollywood never has to have an original idea again!
