    contract vs contraction

If someone has gotten infected with a virus, we are talking about infection with the virus. If someone has contracted a virus, would I be talking about contraction of the virus?

You could. It's not wrong, but I can't imagine the need for it.

No. The person who contracts a virus becomes infected with it.
    I am not a teacher.

    Re: contract vs contraction

I think it should be 'contraction of a disease,' (not really a virus).

One (or a part of one's body) gets infected with a virus.
    One contracts a disease.
