player or radio, CD or disk

(Referring to the car) Is it the radio, the player, or the stereo, when it has a radio and also plays compact disks?

Do you refer to CD's as such, or simply as disks? E.g. insert the CD/disk in the player in order to play it.

When a child tries to insert a disk in the wrong way, do you say Turn it right side up? Or Flip the disk to the other side? Or Turn the disk to the right side?

It's a CD player or a stereo, and you turn the the CD right side up.

I would call it a car stereo or car radio. Of course, nowadays, the car manufacturers call them "infotainment systems," with their touch screens and ability to work with your smart phone.

Personally, I call it the car's sound system.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Re: player or radio, CD or disk

OP, I think that sound systems have become such an integral part of a car that it no longer feels natural to use other terms to describe the systems as a whole. You can refer to individual components by their names: the CD player, the radio, etc.

I have a car radio and CD player. My satnav is not integrated into the dashboard.
