    Even if you were

    Is this sentence gramatically correct? In particular, I have a doubt about the "s" at the end of "rule".

    Even if you were the President of the United States, you wouldn't be able to change any rules of the protocol.

    (There are two m's in every variation of GRAMMAR.)
